The Chatland Campaigns

One of the provinces of Uhrldnot was Chatland. This province, tho supposedly ruled by the WOW was known for it's unruly ways. Both the BOARs and the WOWs found that battles here were never sure, as the local citizenry would support first one side then the other.

Chief among the people of changing loyalty was the group known as the Menagemont. These people, who it is said started as a religious order, were secretive in their ways and neither WOW nor BOAR could be sure of their support at any given time.

Both WOW forces and BOAR forces operated within the province, neither gaining a distinct advantage over the other. The Marquis of Leo, a BOAR Noble, directed most of the BOAR forays. Some of the denizens of the area could be bought with gold, while others were more concerned with finding a religious path known only as the 56 steps. At times some had claimed to have found the true path, while others could only dream of it.

So, as the years passed, army after army marched through Chatland, some victorious, others suffering defeat after defeat. Many courageous soldiers from both sides died in the seesawing battles. At times it would seem that the WOW would gain the upperhand, only to lose it to the BOARs, or the Menagemont or others.

Tho it is not clear from the tales that remain if Edward Kell Lee ever participated in these campaigns, his legend continued to grow. Some even began to call him the BOAR King.

Some of the pitched battles that were known to be fought were; Price, The Calling of the Names, Insalt City, The Times River engagements (fought along both tributaries, the Good and the Bad Times), The Legion of the Lost, as well as the multitude of actions fought against the barbaric hordes of Ehohal (whom still raid Chatland with impunity to this day). The family of the Marquis of Leo is still instrumental in Chatland, and any visitors to this province should seek out their advice on travel in the area.

There was never a decisive moment in Chatland, and both sides in this War continued to look for better ground on which to face the enemy. One outcome of the terrible losses suffered by both sides was a certain amount of respect for the troops of the other. It was in this cauldron of conflict that both armies, the BOARs and the WOW minions were truelly forged and tempered.

The unruly nature of Chatland exists to this day, and it is still possible to experience the forces that the men and women of both armies faced during the long years of struggle. Celebrations of the various battles are apt to break out at any time, some with realistic enactments of the BOAR Wars, others giving new meaning to the term 'strife'.

Edward Kell Lee determined that if the WOW were to be defeated, he would have to subdue the City of Elp, and gain it's forges and supplies for the BOARs. Which leads us to the next installement of this Saga.
